How do we know this? After years of using the stock fin bolt and plate that are included with surfboard fins, we thought there was an improvement to be made. Every surfer who has used a central finbox with a screw and plate knows the frustrations of dealing with these little critters. Trying to get the bolt in the hole, losing your screwdriver or allen key... screws rounding off, rusting shut, being unable to use them with freezing cold fingers... and worst of all becoming so numbed by the experience just leaving the fin in our boards never to be considered again!
We thought there was a better way, so we designed and patented the Finjak Tool-Free. Made of high-strength acetal resin, Finjak Tool-Free is a one-piece locking device that will retrofit all of your surfboard fins that currently use a fin bolt and plate. You do not need a tool to use the Finjak (hence the name Tool-Free). It allows really fast installation as it simply slides into your finbox and allows you to clamp your fin in place with one swift movement. This not only offers amazing convenience but allows you to swap your fins quickly, or pack your kit away in seconds.
Finjak Tool-Free allows you to fine-tune your fin during a session, maximising the potential of your fin and surfboard for every wave. With the huge variety of surfboard fins available Finjak Tool-Free can allow you to move your fin in increments to get the right amount of fin depth to board size and rail length.
Adjusting your Finjak Tool-Free while in the water can dramatiaclly increase your ability to turn, drive or provide hold for each and every wave.
Finjak Tool-Free is fast, convenient, will not rust, easily found if dropped and perfect for travelling and swapping out fins. It's boardbag friendly and will not rip or put holes in your kit. The Finjak will work on front-tab fins, but was orignally designed for rear tab fins, such as the legendary Greenough 4A, and is designed to fit all standard Bahne style finboxes. If you use it on a front tab fin and you hit something in the water it could release, especially on longer fins. This can be a good thing, saving a broken fin or box, or person!
